In this vibrant class, beloved picture books come to life through art! Each session begins with a read-aloud of a beautifully illustrated children's book, followed by a hands-on art project inspired by the story. Students explore art techniques — drawing, painting, collage, watercolor, and more — while discovering the unique styles of celebrated illustrators like Eric Carle and Peter Reynolds.
Over the course of the session, every student builds their very own art journal, adding a new page of original artwork each week. No two journals look alike — each one is a one-of-a-kind collection that reflects the artist who made it.
Younger and emerging artists work with guided steps and plenty of hands-on support, while more experienced artists are encouraged to experiment, make independent choices, and push their creativity further. Along the way, every student builds creative confidence, fine motor skills, and a lifelong love of art and storytelling.
No experience needed — just a love of stories and a willingness to create!
